Residents keep in touch through the Kings Mountain Association, and the Kings Mountain Fire Brigade. Money for the fire brigade and other local organizations, such as the Kings Mountain School, garden club, and the neighborhood newsletter, is raised through the annual Kings Mountain Art Fair.
The small Kings Mountain School, which serves grades Kindergarten through Fifth, has only four classrooms but has been ranked in the top 10 in San Mateo County for two years. Because of the school’s size, parents are often highly involved in their children’s education and feel connected to other parents in Kings Mountain. Parents seeking an excellent education for their children come from as far as Half Moon Bay to be part of this education oriented and vibrant school community.
Formerly the site of numerous sawmills until 1920, redwoods have since re-grown and now shade the neighborhood.
