Streets off Portola Road end in dead ends, making them safe and pleasant to walk through in the absence of through traffic.

Family Farm/Hidden Valley falls into the Portola Valley School District and Sequoia Union High School District. Students in grades K – 3 attend Ormandale Elementary, which scores in the mid 900s on the API, before moving on to Corte Madera, which also scores well on the API. Woodside High has somewhat lower scores on the API, due to the intermixing of students from other districts. Summit Prep a charter school geared toward college prep is also an option. Portola Valley schools offer a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program for academically excellent students. Top tier students go on to attend top National Universities such as CAL, Stanford and many University of California Campuses. Alternatively, the Woodside Priory is just a stroll up Portola Road, and many families opt to send their children to this excellent private school.
