Gemello Neighborhood —A simple, comfortable neighborhood with a safe, quiet and friendly atmosphere
Prior to the 1950s, the land that Gemello occupies today was nothing but farmland, orchards and a winery. Since then, Gemello has been developed into a peaceful, family-friendly community populated by neighborly residents ranging from young professionals to families with children.
Gemello Neighborhood Real Estate Insider
The median home in Gemello sold for $1,025,000 in 2006 while the median condominium sold for $587,000 in 2006. The area was developed on farmland first owned by John Gemello and his family and was originally called Blackfield Village. The first homes were largely 974-square-foot, 3-bedroom, one-bath homes, but the second development, called Excel Homes, were slightly larger, at 1,174 feet. A few of these original homes still stand today, but many have been renovated or torn down and rebuilt.
While many of the homeowners are busy with full time jobs, residents stay acquainted with three or four of the families in their neighborhood and occasionally gather once a year for a Christmas party or another holiday celebration.
Located between El Monte Avenue, El Camino Real and the border of Los Altos, Gemelllo is conveniently located near shopping and dining in both Mountain View and Los Altos. Residents can visit downtown Mountain View, downtown Los Altos, Longs Shopping Center, Gemello Village and Clarkwood Center to run errands or meet friends.
