Streets are lined with trees and every house is distinct from the one next door. Ranging from Craftsman homes to Georgian-style houses, North Los Altos is definitely not a tract development. Many residents have renovated their North Los Altos real estate as well.
The North Los Altos demographic is a balanced mix of empty nesters and families, which provides for an inviting sense of community. Festivities abound, including a Friday movie night on the main street, the renowned Festival of Lights parade, a pet parade, art in the park festivals, and an outstanding arts and wine festival.
Proximity to the freeway and foothill expressway makes commuting a breeze, and shopping is available in downtown Los Altos, Los Altos Village Court and San Antonio Shopping Center on El Camino Real. There is also the Los Altos History Museum nearby as well.

North Los Altos’ excellent school district is a great draw for families. Many parents get involved with the schools and there are also a private schools—the Los Altos Christian School and Pinewood—available as well. Public schools include Santa Rita or Almond Elementary Schools, Egan Intermediate School and Los Altos High School. These schools tend to score very well on the API, especially in the elementary and intermediate levels. The average tends to level off at the high school, but top-tiered students still consistently go on to attend prestigious universities, including the nearby Stanford University.
