The Los Altos neighborhood of Loyola Corners takes it name from the triangle formed by Fremont, Miramonte and Loraine Avenues and the founders of Santa Clara University who originally purchased part of the land where Loyola Corners now resides. Following the earthquake of 1906, the university was forced to sell the land, opening it up for development for houses to be built.
Though many original owners still live in this Los Altos neighborhood, there has been a steady stream of new residents, many of them constructing new homes or renovating old ones. Most of the homes are one-story ranch style houses on smaller lots, though the occasional multi-story home is mixed into the neighborhood.

Though the block party tradition in Loyola Corners has mostly died out, neighbors remain close, partially due to coming together to form an association to lobby against a proposed low-income housing project. Through its efforts, the project was kept to eight units in a cul-de-sac, and neighbors have been reportedly pleased with the construction and landscaping.
