Central Los Altos residents send their children to Covington, Loyola, Oak or Springer Elementary School, Black or Egan Intermediate School which are Los Altos public schools and Mountain View or Los Altos High School, which are part of the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District. Los Altos public schools consistently score in the mid- to upper-900s on the API. The high schools score lower, due to the combination of students from varying backgrounds and neighborhoods, though the upper tier students still go on to attend prestigious universities, such as Stanford or University. Private schools—including Canterbury Christian School, St. Francis High School, Pinewood School and St. Simon Catholic School—are available in the area as well.
