Menlo Park —Mecca of Venture Capital and the Birthplace of Google. Located in the Silicon Valley adjacent to Stanford University, Menlo Park is known as the birth place of Google. San Francisco is just 31 miles to the north and is easily accessible by car or Cal-Train. Only 67% of the residents in Menlo Park are homeowners, but this is actually a benefit, as many denizens are students or professors. This intellectual class provides an influx of forward-thinking restaurants, cafes, boutiques, whole-foods grocers, home decoration stores, and a vibrant social scene.

The median home selling price in Menlo Park is $1.3 million, but properties range from “starter homes” for young professionals in the Willows neighborhood to new homes exceeding $3.5 million near the downtown and Allied Arts areas. Through middle school, Menlo Park Schools and the nearby Las Lomita Schools are excellent. The Menlo-Atherton High School’s API scores suffer due to a mix of students from surrounding areas. However, the overall score of 757 belies the outstanding academic achievement level of the top tier of its students. Menlo-Atherton High School’s multi-cultural, socio-economically diverse atmosphere provides an easy track for top-performing graduates to attend UCLA, UC Berkley, and Ivy League Schools.
